IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
The LumenLight unit has been carefully engineered both for effectiveness and safety. However, basic safety precautions should always be observed when using any electrical (electronic) equipment, especially during charging.
PRECAUTIONS
Always use caution when connecting the power supply into an electrical outlet. We suggest using an outlet strip with surge protector. Never place or store any unit or charger where it can fall or be pulled in a bathtub, sink, toilet, water tank or bucket. Never reach for a unit that is plugged into an electrical outlet and has fallen into water. In case of the above, shut off power supply, unplug immediately. Return unit for servicing before further use.
Be sure unit is off before connecting or disconnecting to a power supply.
MEDICAL WARNING
Consult your physician prior to using.
Before allowing other people to use your device instruct them as to the proper use and precautions.
Do not shine the beam of light from the light emitting diodes (LED's) directly into open eyes for long periods of time. Extended exposure to any bright light may damage eyes.
Use cautiously; burns may result from improper use.
DO NOT sleep with the device turned on.
This product is not to be used by incapacitated persons.
Do not leave small children unattended with product.
Do not use on infants.
Do not use on areas of insensitive skin.
Do not use with liniments, salves or ointments that contain heat producing ingredients. Skin burns could result.
Consult a physician if on light-sensitive medication.

INDICATIONS FOR USE
Therapeutic applications of the Lumen Photon Therapy devices are as follows:

· Use when applications are desirable for personal comfort and whenever recommended by a licensed medical professional.
· Provides temporary relief of minor aches and pains in muscles and joints.
· Aids in the relaxation of muscles.
· Helps provide for a temporary improved range and freedom of motion due to muscle relaxation and temporary minor pain relief.
· Provides a temporary increase in local blood circulation.

The Lumen Controller

Device Operation
Plug adaptor into Lumen controllerand adaptor into electrical outlet. Depress pressure sensitive ON, display window will read SET and TIME. When beginning, the display will always show the last setting in use. First, choose setting by depressing SETTING triangle until desired setting is reached. SETTING will scroll through settings 1 - 7 and NICO. Choose TIME by depressing pressure sensitive TIME triangle. TIME will scroll through 1 min., 2 min., 5 min., 10 min., or 15 minute settings. Press START button. The diode array on the opposite side will activate for treatment. (NOTE: Some diodes will not appear to be lit. These are infrared diodes and emit light invisible to the naked eye.) The timer will begin to count down according to the TIME setting chosen. The unit will sound three double beeps that indicate the chosen cycle is completed and the display will indicate shutoff.

Pad Information
The more densely packed the diodes, the more concentrated the therapy. While our pads are soft and flexible lengthwise, they do not bend sideways (side to side). The expandable velcro straps allow a pad to be held in place, typically on the neck, back, elbow, or ankle.

FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES OUTLINED IN IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Place the diode array near or on the part of the body being treated.
The suggested treatment time is between 15 and 60 minutes, two - three times per day.
If using unit every day the following guideline is suggested to allow the body to reset itself:
- 21 day use
- 7 day break

Do not stand or walk on any accessory! This may damage the unit and will void the warranty.

Operation modes
The Lumen controller unit has five user buttons:
Power On - turns the unit on
Power Off - turns the unit off
Setting - allows choice of operating modes, either NICO or specific settings 1-7
Time - adjusts length of treatment (1, 2, 5, 10 or 15 minutes)
Start/Stop- activates the diode array

MODES (Functions)
The Lumen controller will start in the cycle setting last in use. In the manual mode only the selected setting will be on. The NICO setting is designed for participants in the dental study.

Choose a setting
To access the manual mode, depress the SET button until the desired Setting is illuminated. The unit will now operate only on that setting. To access the NICO mode, depress SET button until display reaches NICO.

Dental Study Instructions
When NICO is displayed on unit, the Lumen equipment is ready to activate in NICO mode. Press start to activate diode array. Timer will begin to count down from 5 minutes to 0 and then beep twice to signify the time to shift placement of the diode array. This 5 minute segment will repeat for 6 cycles allowing for treatment of the entire jaw area. The display then announces that the unit will shut down in two minutes. One complete treatment cycle has now been completed. The Lumen therapy pads may be used in the NICO mode upon other areas of the body to increase circulation, relax muscle tissue and reduce pain as instructed by a qualified health care professional.

Caring for your unit
Every effort has been made to ensure that your unit is of the highest quality materials and workmanship. However, observing the following general precautions will substantially prolong the life of your unit.
1. The base controller units are made of electronic circuitry, hence, care should be exercised when placing it on or removing from the body.
2. Lay flat whenever possible. Avoid excessive or unnecessary bending since it contains many soldered joints.
3. Do NOT apply if the body is wet. Allow the body to dry before use. Electronics can be short circuited by water. Prolonged exposure to moisture will cause corrosion.
4. When cleaning, NEVER immerse or wash with water. ALWAYS use a dry brush when cleaning exterior. The body contact surface can be wiped with a damp cloth or sponge.

Warranty information
Lumen Photon Therapy Inc. warrants each new device to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year following the delivery of equipment to the original purchaser. The obligation of Lumen Photon Therapy Inc. under this warranty is expressly limited solely and exclusively limited to the repair or replacement for the unit(s) or any parts thereof, which to the satisfaction of Lumen Photon Therapy Inc., shall have become defective during the warranty period. This warranty does not extend to any liability to medical or dental expenses or for any other direct, indirect or consequential damages caused by failure, defect or malfunction of any "Lumen Photon Therapy Inc." product, except as herein provided, whether such damage claim shall be based on contract, breach of warranty or otherwise. This warranty shall not apply to any product of "Lumen Photon Therapy, Inc." which has been repaired, tampered with or altered by someone other than a duly authorized Lumen Photon Therapy representative, or which has not been used in accordance with the enclosed instructions or for the stated purpose. This warranty is expressly limited solely to the original purchaser (user) and does not extend to any transferee, assignee or subsequent purchaser or user of the "Lumen Photon Therapy, Inc."
product. This warranty is the sole and exclusive warranty made or which may deemed to have been made by "Lumen Photon Therapy Inc." and is expressly in lieu of any and all warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. No person or entity has any authority to bind "Lumen Photon Therapy, Inc." to any warranty; guarantee or representation except as specifically set forth herein. Except as provided, "Lumen Photon Therapy, Inc." disclaims all warranties, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties relating to the use of the product and/or result from the use of the product and any warranties which maybe implied as a result of the purpose for which the product was manufactured. In no event will "Lumen Photon Therapy, Inc." be held responsible or liable for any failure to produce claimed results arising out of the use of or inability to use any "Lumen Photon Therapy, Inc." product by therapists or any other users of the product.

Repairs and Service
Repairs, battery replacements and upgrades for all Lumen Photon Therapy products should be sent in the original box together with name, address and phone number, accompanied by a brief explanation of the problem and form of payment, to:

All items sent either for repair or replacement in conformity with the terms of the warranty should be sent insured and properly packed. Lumen Photon Therapy Inc. assumes no responsibility for product that has been lost or damaged during shipment.
